The BAM-PCB-10001 is now available in the BAM Innovations shop. It is a small board that solves two problems that come up in almost every custom lithium-ion pack: keeping the charge port dead when no charger is attached, and giving the battery-to-load path a proper fuse and clean wiring terminations.
The problem it solves
A pack with an external charge connector normally has battery voltage sitting on that connector all the time. Anything that bridges the pins — a dropped washer, saltwater, a mis-mated plug — sees the full pack. The usual fix is a series diode in the charge path, which costs a volt or more of headroom at charging current and turns that into heat inside the pack.
How the BAM-PCB-10001 handles it
The board uses an ideal-diode controller driving a low-resistance MOSFET in the charge path. Current flows from the charger into the battery with millivolts of drop instead of a diode's forward voltage; the moment the charger is removed or its voltage falls below the pack, the MOSFET turns off and the charge port is isolated from the battery. No voltage at the port, no exposed pins carrying pack potential, no diode heat.
On the load side, a 30 A surface-mount fuse protects the battery-to-load path, and screw terminals bring battery, charge-input and load wiring to one place.
Features
- Charge-path isolation: current flows toward the battery only; the port reads zero with no charger attached
- Fused battery-to-load power distribution, replaceable surface-mount fuse
- 22 × 55 mm, 2-layer, 2 oz copper, built for in-pack mounting
- Screw-terminal connections for battery, charge input and load
- Designed to sit downstream of an external BMS and work with a standard CC/CV charger
- Not limited to 6S packs — see the specification sheet for voltage and current limits

Where it fits
The board came out of BAM's own pack programs, where the same charge-port and distribution circuit kept being redrawn for each design. It is now a stock part for anyone building a battery-powered product: pack builders, robotics and marine equipment developers, prototype shops and small-run OEMs. Pair it with your protection board and charger, wire per the supplied diagram, and the charge-port problem is handled.
What's in the box
Each board ships assembled and tested to BAM Innovations' internal standards, with a specification sheet and wiring documentation. It is not a safety-certified component and does not replace a battery protection circuit.
